How to design the safety spacing of PCB?

1. Distance between conductors
As far as the processing capacity of mainstream PCB manufacturers is concerned, the spacing between wires and wires shall not be less than 4mil. The minimum line distance is also the distance from line to line and line to pad. From the production point of view, the bigger the better, the more common is 10mil.
2. Pad aperture and pad width
In terms of the processing capacity of mainstream PCB manufacturers, the pad aperture should not be less than 0.2mm if it is mechanically drilled, and the minimum should not be less than 4mil if it is laser drilled. The aperture tolerance varies slightly according to the different plates, which can generally be controlled within 0.05mm, and the minimum width of the pad shall not be less than 0.2mm.

As far as the processing capacity of the mainstream PCB manufacturer is concerned, the spacing between the pad and the pad shall not be less than 0.2mm.
4. Distance between copper skin and plate edge

If it is a large area of copper, there is usually a retraction distance from the edge of the plate, generally set to 20mil. In the PCB design and manufacturing industry, under normal circumstances, for mechanical considerations of the finished circuit board, or to avoid curling or electrical short circuit that may be caused by the copper skin exposed on the edge of the board, engineers often shrink a large area of copper block relative to the edge of the board by 20mil, rather than always laying the copper skin to the edge of the board.
There are many ways to deal with this copper shrinkage, such as drawing a keepout layer on the edge of the plate, and then setting the distance between the copper and the keepout. A simple method is described here, that is, to set different safety distances for the copper coating object, such as the safety distance of the whole plate is set to 10mil, and the copper coating is set to 20mil, which can achieve the effect of 20mil reduction in the edge of the plate, and also remove the dead copper that may appear in the device.
